Have a say on Council's Draft 2021/22 Budget
|
Council’s Draft 2021/22 Budget is now open for community feedback.
Noosa Mayor Clare Stewart said the $153 million draft budget responded to priorities residents put forward during online and face-to-face budget consultations earlier this year.
“We’ve considered all of that input in developing the draft budget, which is now online for residents to review and comment on,” the Mayor said.
“Key features include greater investment in our Community Grants program and a 100% increase in fire preparedness measures, such as hazard burns and fire trail creation and maintenance.”
A modest levy will help fund the added bushfire protections and support volunteer rural fire brigade emergency response operations within the shire.
“Residents told us they wanted a significant infrastructure investment. An ambitious $47 million capital program will progress work on important big ticket projects such as the Tewantin Bypass and Hinterland Adventure Playground, plus fund many more.” Read more.

Call for Minister to act
|
Mayor Clare Stewart has called on the state government to act on Kin Kin residents’ safety concerns about quarry trucks using Pomona Kin Kin Road.
“This is about preventing an accident or a fatality,” the Mayor said. “Based on the feedback from our community, there is a genuine likelihood of that occurring in the foreseeable future.”
In letters to Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey, Mayor Stewart says the community is at “breaking point”, with the quarry operation having “catastrophic repercussions” for local residents. Read more.
