Council in talks with Kin Kin quarry operator
|
Council staff have met with Kin Kin quarry operator Cordwell Resources in a ‘without prejudice’ meeting.
It follows the hinterland community's concerns about truck movements and other issues.
Mayor Clare Stewart has advised the Kin Kin Roundtable that if Council can’t reach any further agreements within three weeks the matter will likely go to the Planning and Environment Court.
The ‘without prejudice’ meeting is the first time Council and the quarry operator have been able to arrange a suitable time to hold such talks with legal representation, due to COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns.
Discussion at the ‘without prejudice’ meeting must remain confidential to allow Council and the operator to consider options, prior to any proceedings being lodged.
