Membership

2015 membership fees are now due.  Make sure your payment is finalised in time to borrow your next book club set. Make a payment at your local library branch or email, if you have any questions.

The Finances

Eighty-five Book clubs have paid their membership for 2015 and Sunshine Coast Libraries has ordered nineteen new book club sets with the funds. Some of the new titles have arrived and you can start reserving the 'available' ones. Each group pays $100 per year for membership. These funds are used solely for the purchase of new sets and replacing individual copies as needed.

Date Claimer

Join Sunshine Coast Libraries on Tuesday 5 May from 5.30 – 7pm at Coolum Library for a get-together talk on all things book club related. It's a great opportunity to make suggestions to help us improve our service and meet other clubs who share your passion for reading. Nibblies will be provided.

Adventurers Book Club

It’s a Thursday afternoon. 3.30pm. We are assembled around my dining room table. Eight of us. I am excited, I have been looking forward to discussing Foal’s Bread. I grew up in the Australian bush; I can identify with so much of this novel. It’s 5.30pm. They’ve all gone home. Nobody felt the same way about the novel as I did. But it doesn’t matter. Foal’s Bread had been the catalyst for an indepth exploration of the social mores of another era. Sometimes tears are shared as personal stories are revealed, helping the rest of us get a clearer picture and understanding of an issue. At the time we don’t realise how this brings us closer together as we feel more comfortable with each other and less afraid of being honest and open in our opinions and revelations. Something special is developing in our group.

Phillipa Wiley sent in this insight into her book club. This makes her the winner of two tickets to the Caloundra Cinema. Keep these wonderful stories and photos coming for your chance to win a prize.
