Did you know?

The ‘new alert profile' feature is a great tool. Set up your profile so that the system automatically emails you with new Book Club titles.
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3. Just log into your account and select the “new alert profile” tab

  1. From the “collection” drop down box, select “book club”
  2. Test your search. Once you see the results, you will need to hit the 'back' button on your browser, to go back to the alert profile page. When you hit back, it clears your search terms and you will need to re-enter your selection.
  3. Determines how often the system performs the search. You will only receive an email alert if a match to your search terms is located.
  4. If you wish to, you can enter an expiry date, however it is not necessary.
  5. Description, is simply the name of the search,  e.g. “New book club titles”

Click save, and you should get a little banner down the bottom telling you it has been saved.

Alert Profiles are only for new items, and do not search through items that have been in the collection for some time.

Welcome to the new website!
library_website_bc_enews12.jpgSunshine Coast Libraries launched a new-look website this week! Support for book clubs is just one of the many resources and services provided by Sunshine Coast Libraries, and because of their popularity there is a direct link to the book club information under 'quick links' on the new homepage. There is also a link under the 'Community Programs' button on the top navigation bar. All links available under the top navigation buttons are revealed by hovering the mouse over the button. Just a reminder that the annual fee was due by March 31 2012 and is now payable if you wish to continue borrowing from the book club collection. Payments can be made at the Sunshine Coast Libraries' online eShop or at any of the library branches. Update on book club finances
booksAs part of our ongoing service to book clubs, we have supplied a breakdown of how the book club registration fees have been spent so far in 2012. We are pleased to provide the following information, to demonstrate that the registration fees are being spent in accordance with our commitment to book club members. All revenue generated from the book club registration fees goes directly back into the purchase of new titles for the exclusive use of book clubs. No money is expended on the purchase of the boxes in which the titles are housed and distributed, or other, non-book club related costs.

The table below provides details on the amount of revenue generated, and the number of items purchased using the book club registration fees. The last line in the table demonstrates that not all funds have been expended, but these funds are being carried forward to purchase books for book clubs in the near future.

          344

Total expenditure on books for book clubs in 2012

The Slap is/are now available as an eight part television series. The book club set and the series is available for reservation at Sunshine Coast Libraries. Reserve The Slap
Reservation Hot Tip!
book_reserve2_bc_enews12.jpgWhen reserving book sets for your club, reserve only titles that are available. This will ensure that you have a really good chance of getting a set by the time you have your next meeting. Reserving anything that is on loan, on order or coming soon is not a sure thing. The 'Coming Soon' status can mean up to two weeks before available as the material has just been processed by our suppliers. The 'On Order' status will take four to six weeks, sometimes longer, if coming from overseas, plus processing time. To help you out there are guidelines on the web for all book clubs to read.
